Chiropractic for Adolescents, Children & Toddlers

Thousands of adolescents, children and toddlers benefit from the fruits of regular chiropractic care everyday. Chiropractic has become much more than an effective treatment for adult back pain. It has become a safe, effective health resource for all members of the family. Relief from pain, correction of neuromusculoskeletal conditions and overall health optimization for all ages is what chiropractic can provide. Our doctors provide care, evaluation and treatment to children who are toddlers (children who have begun walking) and older. (For infants, see below.)

In addition to providing safe, effective treatment for back pain, scoliosis, headaches and the more obvious "chiropractically-responsive" treatments in the young, we can also provide effective care for many other conditions. Common childhood conditions such as ear infections, asthma and infantile colic - to name a few - have been shown to respond favorably to chiropractic treatments at times.

Chiropractic is a holistic approach to the treatment and management of health conditions. Chiropractic care encompasses a wide variety of safe, natural and noninvasive treatments. This includes chiropractic spinal adjustments, exercise and stretching programs, diet and nutritional counseling, soft tissue techniques, to name a few. In experienced hands, chiropractic care can help to provide your infant, child or adolescent with a lifetime of health and happiness.

What About Newborns & Infants?

Chiropractic care can be safe and effective for newborns and/or infants too. That said, we do not examine or treat newborns or infants at our office but we will recommend or refer you to chiropractic specialists who have completed extensive training with newborns and infants. If you would like to have your newborn or infant (who is not yet walking) examined and possibly treated by a chiropractor we will gladly refer you to qualified chiropractic colleagues in the greater-Portland area who possess (or one who is in the active process of obtaining) the special, extra certifications to expertly care for newborns or infants. Just call us or email us and ask for a referral. If you want to search for yourself, we recommend that you choose a chiropractor (DC) who possesses one of the following advanced certifications/diplomates. (Look for the extra letters following the designation "DC"):

200 hour certification by the Academy Council of Chiropractic Pediatrics "CACCP"

360 hour diplomate in Clinical Chiropractic Pediatrics "DICCP"

400 hour diplomate in the Academy Council of Chiropractic Pediatrics, or "DACCP"
